Transports to and from basements

Boilers, tanks, heating systems, machines, buffer storage tanks - safely into the basement with Lanzell

The really tricky projects in the specialised transport industry are actually not even the particularly large or heavy ones, but often the everyday ones. Almost every homeowner knows this: at some point, the heating needs to be replaced or old tanks need to be replaced. The energy transition also plays a role here. Although modern building technology is becoming increasingly miniaturised, it is also becoming more extensive and complex. That's when things get really complicated, because it's not always as easy to move objects in and out of the cellar as it was last time. Transporting a boiler into the basement, moving electricity storage units up and down stairs or relocating tanks and vaults - no two projects are the same.

In industry and research, too, valuable space must be utilised in the best possible way. As a result, production facilities and laboratories are increasingly found in basements or lower basement levels. Brewing equipment or large tanks, for example, are naturally better off in cellars than taking up valuable space elsewhere.

What makes transport to and from the cellar so difficult?

While you can usually work very well "on the surface" with aids such as pallet trucks, forklift trucks or mobile cranes, which make the work much easier, these options are of course automatically eliminated when moving into the cellar. In this case, it's back to classic muscle power and physics. It is easy to calculate whether an object will fit through the available openings, but how the weight of the object will affect the surroundings and the necessary safety devices is sometimes very difficult to calculate and requires a lot of experience. Rope hoists, pulley blocks, lever hoists, pulleys - this is where all the basic knowledge of a specialised transporter is needed once again. Because one thing is certain: if you make a mistake and get stuck, it can be really time-consuming and expensive.

When transporting goods up and down stairs, it is also important to minimise damage - almost everyone knows what an average German apartment block looks like after a few moves up and down the stairs. The transport of heating systems and machines is doubly critical here, as the appliances themselves are becoming increasingly sensitive these days. While boilers and tanks can withstand a lot of shocks, modern combined heat and power units and laboratory equipment are much more "resilient". More and more sensitive electronics and the finest mechanics are making transport to and from basements more difficult in everyday life. But we get up every day to face such challenges.
